On May 25, a powerful explosion occurred in the Odesa region, causing local residents to become alarmed. The sound was so loud that rumors immediately spread about a serious attack on a warship. However, the official version of events turned out to be less dramatic than what was being discussed on social media.

### Rumors vs. Facts

In local Telegram channels and chats, immediately after the incident, which occurred around 13:29, messages began to circulate about an attack on the frigate "Druzhba". The panic was understandable: in wartime conditions, any loud sound in the port is associated with a missile attack. People rushed to share information, but often without confirmation.

### Official Position of the Navy

Spokesperson for the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Naval Forces, Dmytro Pletenchuk, promptly commented on the situation. According to him, an explosion did indeed occur in the port, but its source was not an enemy shell, but an explosive device that was there. Fortunately, no significant damage to infrastructure or other objects was recorded.

### Context of Tension

The incident occurred against the backdrop of high combat activity in the region. Just two days earlier, on May 23, Russian forces attacked civilian infrastructure in the Odesa region. Then, according to preliminary data, nine people were injured, including three children. It was precisely this tragic background that caused such a strong reaction to the new explosion, which turned out not to be the result of a direct strike on military objects.
