# Explosion threat in Khust: man with grenade blackmails family

An incident that nearly ended in tragedy occurred in the city of Khust in the Zakarpattia region. Law enforcement officers detained a man who, during a family dispute, threatened to detonate a live grenade in his own home, where his wife and two sons were present.

### Nighttime call and urgent evacuation

The events unfolded at night. The police received an emergency report of domestic violence. The female complainant informed the operators that her husband was behaving extremely aggressively and was in possession of live weaponry. According to the victim, the man directly threatened to blow up a grenade in the living quarters, where she and their two children were at that moment.

Police units promptly arrived at the scene. The priority task was to evacuate people from the danger zone. Law enforcement officers evacuated the woman and her two sons, aged 14 and 18. After ensuring the safety of the citizens, the perpetrator was detained.

### Seizure of the explosive and detention

During a search of the house, investigators discovered and seized a live grenade, confirming the victim's statements. The suspect was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention center.

Currently, law enforcement is resolving the issue of notifying the man of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for illegal handling of weapons or ammunition. Additionally, the department noted that his actions related to domestic violence and direct threats against family members will be separately assessed legally.

Procedural oversight of the case is being carried out by the Khust Regional Prosecutor's Office. The victimized relatives are currently in complete safety.

### Rise in weapon-related incidents in Ukraine

The incident in Khust is the latest in a series of high-profile events involving the use of weapons and ammunition in domestic conflicts. Recently, several similar incidents have been recorded in Ukraine, demonstrating the seriousness of the problem.

In particular, in Odesa, a man opened fire in a pizzeria on Serednefontanska Street. The perpetrator fired about five shots from a pistol, after which he was promptly detained by law enforcement.

An even more dangerous incident occurred in the Sumy region. There, a man with a grenade caused an explosion while talking to patrol officers. As a result of the detonation, five people sustained injuries of varying severity, including three police officers.

Conflicts involving weapons are also occurring in the west of the country. In the Lviv region, a domestic dispute between men escalated into a physical confrontation, after which one of the participants picked up a hunting rifle and shot at his opponent's car.
