A Russian drone exploded in Kyiv in close proximity to a gas distribution station. This was reported by the city's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, in his statement. Preliminary data indicates that the incident occurred in the Desnyanskyi district. An enemy unmanned aerial vehicle crashed and exploded near a critical infrastructure facility. Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene to assess the damage and mitigate the consequences. ### Casualties and destruction The situation in the city was complicated by new reports of casualties. As a result of the drone explosion in the Desnyanskyi district, two people were injured and hospitalized. Additionally, the drone crashed into a three-story non-residential building located near a market. Rescuers continue to work at the crash site. The Mayor of Kyiv clarified that the total number of people injured in the drone attacks on the capital reached six. All the wounded were taken to medical facilities. As of 08:30 AM, firefighting operations continued in the Sviatoshynskyi and Desnyanskyi districts of Kyiv. As a result of the shelling, one woman was killed and two others were injured. ### Scale of the night attack The night attack on July 8 was one of the most intense in recent times. The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Ukrainian air defense failed to intercept any of the five Iskander ballistic missiles launched by the Russian side. All missiles reached their targets at four different locations. In total, Russian forces used two types of missiles and 169 attack drones. The Ukrainian air defense system managed to neutralize 139 of them. ### Strikes on Zaporizhzhia Not only facilities in Kyiv were subjected to attacks. Russian forces struck Zaporizhzhia with guided aerial bombs (KAB). As a result of the attack, thousands of consumers were left without electricity. The territory of an industrial enterprise and a garage cooperative sustained damage. Three people were injured during the strike.
