On the night of June 28, a major incident occurred at one of the key industrial facilities in the Krasnodar Krai. As a result of a drone attack on the Slavyansk Oil Refinery (Slavyansk NPP) in the city of Slavyansk-on-Kuban, a series of powerful explosions was heard.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident was accompanied by a thick column of smoke rising above the enterprise territory and a large fire. It has been confirmed that at least several tanks containing petroleum products have caught fire.

### Key enterprise of the region

The Slavyansk Oil Refinery is one of the significant specialized enterprises in the Southern Federal District. The plant specializes in the production of a wide range of petroleum products and holds a significant market share: about 9% of oil refining in the Southern Federal District and approximately 1.5% of the total Russian volume.

Experts and analysts note that the enterprise plays an important role in fuel logistics, including supplying the needs of Russian armed forces in the combat zone.

### Context of escalation of air attacks

This incident occurred against the backdrop of record activity of Ukrainian air attacks in June. According to intelligence data and media reports, the main targets of the strikes were objects of the Russian military-industrial complex, including factories producing missiles, electronics, and ammunition.

British intelligence also recorded a significant increase in the intensity of strikes on the enemy's military infrastructure. In particular, there is a noted weakening of the air defense systems of Crimea in strategically important areas for Russia.

Successful operations in June included strikes on the Kerch crossing, which led to the destruction of air defense means, fuel storage facilities, and three car ferries. The attack on the Slavyansk Oil Refinery became another example of the expansion of the geography and targets of such operations.
