# Food prices in Ukraine: eggs are getting cheaper, while bread and milk prices remain stable

The start of the new week in Ukrainian supermarkets was marked by a revision of price tags on a number of basic food products. RBK-Ukraine analysts conducted a price monitoring exercise in the largest retail chains — ATB, Silpo, Novus, and Auchan — as of Monday, July 6. To ensure the objectivity of the study, only the most affordable offers in each category, listed on the retailers' official websites, were selected.

### Eggs: a downward trend

The most noticeable changes at the beginning of the week were recorded in the chicken egg segment. The ATB chain continued its policy of lowering prices, reducing the cost of a dozen eggs under its own brand by 4 hryvnias compared to the figures from Friday, July 3. A similar trend was demonstrated by Silpo supermarkets, where the cost of a dozen also dropped by almost 4 hryvnias.

However, the absolute leader in terms of the lowest price at the moment remains the Auchan chain, which continues to hold the leading position in this segment.

### Stability in the bakery and dairy sectors

In the category of bakery products, the situation remains calm: prices have not changed from Friday to Monday. The cheapest bread per unit of weight is still offered in the Silpo chain.

Absolute price stability is also observed in the dairy and butter sectors. All analyzed supermarkets maintained the price tags on these items without changes, recording the same figures as at the end of last week.

### Buckwheat: price gaps and purchase conditions

The situation with buckwheat remains uneven. As before, there is a significant gap in cost between different retail outlets. The cheapest option for buckwheat is offered by the Silpo chain; however, shoppers must take into account an important nuance: the indicated minimum price is valid only with a bonus card or when using the mobile app. Without these conditions, the cost of the grain may differ significantly.
