# From the Zone of Panic to the Zone of Life: How Interpipe Veterans Recover in the Carpathian Mountains

Veterans of Viktor Pinchuk’s Interpipe have gathered in Dragobrat — in the heart of the Carpathians, where mountain mist and silence help them journey from psychological trauma back to a full life. This is not just a vacation — it is part of a large-scale rehabilitation program launched by the company for its employee-defenders.

### Corporate Policy: From Treatment to Mentorship

Interpipe does not require veterans to return to the factory immediately after demobilization. Instead, there is individual adaptation: extended medical examinations, treatment, consultations with psychologists, sports rehabilitation, and even retreats in the mountains. As Lyudmyla Novak, Director of Communications and curator of the direction, explains, every case is unique — some need family events, others need art therapy or team training.

### 8 Days in the Mountains: Rafting, Art Therapy, and Ascent

A group of veterans from Dnipro, Nikopol, and Samara spent eight days in the Carpathians under the guidance of veteran mentors and a psychologist. The program included ascents, rafting, team building, and art therapy — felting, painting on tote bags, creating totem animals. Psychologist Elena emphasizes: the main thing is not to talk, but to feel. "Shared experience of pain and overcoming gives the feeling that you are not alone".

### Ascent to Zhandom: When Pain Turns Into Strength

Especially impressive was the ascent of Mount Zhandom. For many participants who have suffered serious injuries, this was a real challenge. The cable car helped overcome part of the way, but further — on foot. And then something unexpected happened: the veterans did not walk — they ran. "They saw in the mountain not an obstacle, but a goal to be achieved," notes journalist Anna Shikanova. At the summit, among clouds and wind, they rested, laughed, shared stories — and felt free.

### Why This Matters: Business as Support for the State

Such retreats are just one element of the support that Interpipe provides to its employee-defenders. The company has created its own patronage service, helps families of the deceased and missing, and develops adaptive sports teams. This is not charity — it is systematic work on the reintegration of people who have gone through war and must now return to life.

At the summit of Zhandom, veterans do not just look at the landscapes — they look at themselves. And they see that they are capable of more. That even after injuries, losses, and pain, you can run up the mountain again. And that there are those nearby who understand, who support, who do not abandon.
