# Fuel Collapse in Novorossiysk: Gasoline Vanishes, Diesel Available Only with Special Cards

In Novorossiysk, one of Russia's key port cities, an acute fuel shortage has erupted. Gasoline is completely absent at gas stations, while diesel fuel is available only in limited quantities and exclusively via special fuel cards.

### Fuel Only for Official Vehicles

According to the city's municipal management center, only legal entities and entrepreneurs with special contracts with gas station operators can currently refuel. Ordinary citizens with private cars have encountered a complete lack of gasoline at stations. Diesel fuel is still available, but it is dispensed only at eight stations in the city and in strictly limited amounts.

### Reason for the Rush — Fuel Outflow from Crimea

The situation deteriorated sharply after fuel supplies to occupied Crimea were halted. Drivers from the peninsula flocked to neighboring Russian regions, including Novorossiysk, to refuel. This led to a sharp surge in demand and the rapid depletion of fuel reserves at local gas stations.

### Special Regime in Anapa: Police, Officials, and Volunteers

In the neighboring city of Anapa, where a similar fuel rush is observed, authorities have introduced a special operating regime at gas stations. Police officers, officials, and volunteers are on duty at the stations. Their task is to control queues, prevent conflicts, and prohibit people from filling fuel into jerry cans. The Anapa city hall described these measures as "optimization of gas station operations."

### Putin Acknowledged Problems but Called Them Non-Critical

Russian leader Vladimir Putin publicly acknowledged the existence of fuel supply problems but stated that they "are not critical." Nevertheless, according to RBC-Ukraine, gasoline prices in Russia are hitting new records, and queues at gas stations are rapidly spreading to more regions of the country.

The fuel situation in Novorossiysk and other southern regions of Russia is becoming increasingly tense. The shortage, caused by supply disruptions and panic buying, continues to affect the daily lives of citizens and business operations.
