The Russian Federation, facing an acute fuel shortage, has begun importing gasoline by sea from India. This decision comes against the backdrop of the destruction of energy infrastructure due to strikes by Ukraine, which has led to unprecedented price hikes and supply disruptions.

### Scale of Deliveries and Logistics

According to industry sources, at least 60,000 metric tons of gasoline have already been shipped to Russia. Details vary: one source cites the total figure, while another clarifies that the cargo was delivered by two tankers, each carrying between 30,000 and 40,000 tons. It remains unknown which specific Indian oil refinery is acting as the supplier.

Moscow's plans go beyond one-off operations. According to insiders, Russia plans to import up to 400,000 tons of gasoline monthly from various countries. This scheme includes neighboring Belarus, which has already begun exporting fuel supplies to the Russian Federation.

### Critical Consumption Levels

The need for urgent imports is dictated by seasonal factors and the destruction of production capacity. In the summer, gasoline consumption in Russia reaches a minimum of 110,000 tons per day. The fuel market has faced serious difficulties following a series of strikes on Russian oil refineries (ORs). Against this backdrop, gasoline prices in the country have shown the sharpest rise in the last 20 years.

### Restrictions and Regional Crisis

The situation in the domestic market has become so tense that authorities were forced to introduce fuel dispensing quotas. Long queues are forming at gas stations across the country. Sales restrictions have been introduced even in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug — a region that accounts for about 40% of the country's total oil production.

Parallel to the Indian direction, Russia has asked Kazakhstan to supply 50,000 tons of AI-92 gasoline. Russian authorities have officially permitted the import of fuel to cover domestic demand, acknowledging the impossibility of meeting needs solely with domestic resources. As a representative of the aggressor country stated on June 30, active contacts are being held with other states to discuss fuel supplies at acceptable prices.
