Google is on the verge of creating another product with a billion-user audience. Soon, its list of giants, including Search, Gmail, Drive, Android, YouTube, and Chrome, will also feature the AI assistant Gemini. According to data released following the Q2 2026 financial report, the service's monthly audience has reached 950 million users.

### Blitzkrieg in the AI Market

The growth dynamics are impressive: compared to last year, the number of Gemini users has tripled. As recently as February, the company reported surpassing the 750 million mark. These rates are turning Google's assistant into a serious competitor for OpenAI's ChatGPT, which took longer to reach the milestone of 1 billion monthly active users (which happened only in June).

Sundar Pichai, Google's CEO, noted during a conference call that the success is driven by new features, such as Daily Brief and a personal assistant now available worldwide. "We are releasing useful new features at an incredible pace," he emphasized.

### Victory on iOS and a Change in Leadership

Gemini's success is not limited to the Android ecosystem. The app has shown phenomenal results on Apple devices. In the last 12 months, it has been downloaded on iOS more than 137 million times. Special attention is deserved by the built-in image generator, Nano Banana, which has become particularly popular among iPhone users.

The market situation is shifting in Google's favor. According to analytics firm Sensor Tower, ChatGPT's share among AI assistants has fallen below 50% for the first time. Meanwhile, Gemini's share has risen to 27.7%, solidifying its status as the second most significant player in the market.

### Search with Artificial Intelligence

Although AI assistants are increasingly acting as a replacement for traditional web search, Google's search division continues to thrive by integrating new technologies. The audience for the search "AI Mode" exceeded 1 billion users in the past quarter, which, according to the company, contributes to a gradual increase in the total number of search queries.

An important factor allowing for such scale has been Google's own hardware solutions. They have enabled the company to reduce the cost of maintaining new features and models, ensuring the service's accessibility for billions of users.
