Google has announced the wide release of its new application, Google Pics, designed for creating and editing images using artificial intelligence. The tool will be available to users with corporate accounts and educational institution accounts starting August 18. In the initial phase of the release, the service will function as an experimental product within the Gemini Alpha program.

### Technological Foundation and Integration

The new editor is based on the Google Nano Banana AI model. The product has been developed with the needs of business users in mind and will operate in two formats: as a standalone web application and as an integrated component within the Google Workspace office suite. This means that graphic generation and editing functions will be available directly within "Google Docs," "Sheets," and "Slides".

This architecture eliminates the need to export images to third-party services for further editing. Users will be able to work with graphics within their familiar document creation environment.

### Functionality and AI Error Correction

Google Pics offers a wide range of tools for working with visual content. The editor allows users to create images from text prompts, manage individual elements within images, and edit or translate text embedded in graphics. A key feature is the ability to replace image elements.

Developers have focused on eliminating typical shortcomings inherent in generative artificial intelligence. The application helps correct scale mismatches between objects, fixes errors or gibberish in text on images, and resolves conflicts between elements and the background.

### Competitive Landscape and Analogies

The emergence of Google Pics intensifies competition in the graphic editor market. The new product is positioned as an alternative to popular online services like Adobe Express and Canva, as well as stock photo agencies like Shutterstock and iStock.

The editor's functionality includes tools similar to competitors' solutions: a "Magic Grab" feature from Canva for changing the position and size of objects, and background removal technology similar to Adobe's tools. This allows users to perform complex graphic manipulations without needing to switch to professional software.

### Access Conditions and Limits

The rollout of Google Pics will take place in stages. By default, the editor will be available to all Workspace users, although organization administrators can choose to restrict access to the tool. As the audience expands, usage limits for the features will be applied. However, users can expect priority access until February 28, 2027. Currently, the release date for individual users has not been specified.
