The aircraft covered the transatlantic route between Los Angeles and Farnborough (England) in a record-breaking 8 hours and 27 minutes. The distance covered was 8,778 kilometers.

This result allowed the Gulfstream G700 to outpace its main competitor, the Bombardier Global 8000, by 19 minutes. The Canadian aircraft had previously set the benchmark at 8 hours and 46 minutes, but this record lasted only a few weeks. Thus, the palm of victory in the category of ultra-long-range high-speed flights has changed hands.

### Weather Conditions and Technical Nuances

Interestingly, when comparing results, external factors must be taken into account. Representatives of Bombardier previously noted that their crew flew under adverse headwind conditions, which complicated the task. Meanwhile, Gulfstream did not disclose details of the weather conditions accompanying their winning flight, leaving this matter without comment.

From a technical standpoint, the victory appears paradoxical. According to passport data, the Bombardier Global 8000 boasts a higher maximum speed — Mach 0.95 (about 1010 km/h), while the Gulfstream G700 is limited to Mach 0.935 (approximately 990 km/h). Nevertheless, in practice, it was the American aircraft that proved faster on this specific route, demonstrating the efficiency of its aerodynamic solutions and engines in real-world conditions.

Speed is not the only criterion in this duel. Both aircraft are leaders in terms of range, allowing them to make non-stop flights across oceans. The figures here are also close:

- Gulfstream G700: range is 7,750 nautical miles (about 14,350 km).
