# Heat and thunderstorms: forecasters warn of sharp weather contrast in Ukraine on July 2

On July 2, the weather in Ukraine will be extremely contrasting. While central and southern regions will suffer under the scorching sun, western areas will face a powerful atmospheric front, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.

According to the forecast from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, the synoptic situation in the country will be determined by the collision of different air masses. This will result in one place experiencing exhausting heat, while another sees a downpour with hail.

### Heat in the south and center

Dry and hot weather will persist over most of the country. Temperature values will be particularly critical in the central and southern regions. In some places, thermometer readings will rise to +35...+37°C. The wind in these regions will blow from the southeast at 5-10 m/s, which will only intensify the feeling of stuffiness.

Residents of the capital can also expect a sunny day. In Kyiv and the Kyiv region, slight cloudiness without precipitation is expected, allowing temperatures to rise to high values.

### Storm warnings in the west

A completely different picture will unfold in the western regions. An active atmospheric front from Western Europe will arrive there, radically changing weather conditions. Variable cloudiness and unstable weather are forecast for these areas.

Forecasters warn of the following hazardous phenomena:

    - Rain of varying intensity: from moderate during the day to significant.

    - Thunderstorms.

    - Hail in certain areas.

    - Wind gusts with speeds of 15-20 m/s.

Due to the passage of the front, the wind in the western regions will change direction to northwesterly. This will also lead to a drop in daytime temperatures: the air will warm up only to +26...+31°C.

### Consequences for the population

Experts note that the combination of heavy downpours, hail, and gusty winds may lead to complicated road conditions and property damage. Winds of up to 20 m/s can knock down trees and tear down advertising structures, so residents of western regions should exercise special caution.

Thus, July 2 will become a test of endurance: for some Ukrainians — heat, for others — the elements.
