# Heat and thunderstorms: forecasters warn of sudden weather change in Ukraine on July 12

Ukrainians are expected to experience contrasting weather conditions in the coming days. According to a forecast by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, published by RBC-Ukraine, on July 12 the country will see variable cloudiness, which in some areas will be replaced by short-term rain and thunderstorms. Despite the precipitation, air temperatures in several regions will reach comfortable summer levels.

### Temperature regime and wind activity

Forecasters predict a significant spread of temperature readings across the country. In most regions, nighttime temperatures will drop to 9–14 °C, while daytime temperatures will rise to 20–25 °C. However, in the south and southeast of Ukraine, warmer weather is expected: nighttime temperatures will be 13–18 °C, and daytime temperatures will reach 23–28 °C.

The wind will blow predominantly from the southwest, gradually shifting to the northwest. Gust speeds will reach 5–10 m/s.

### Situation in Kyiv and the region

The capital region is also in the zone of unstable weather. On July 12, Kyiv and the Kyiv region are expected to have variable cloudiness with local short-term rain. The wind will maintain a direction from the southwest to the northwest at 5–10 m/s.

The temperature regime in the capital region will be as follows:

    - In Kyiv: 12–14 °C at night, 22–24 °C during the day.

    - In the Kyiv region: 9–14 °C at night, 20–25 °C during the day.

### General forecast for the week

Earlier, meteorologists warned that the current week would be less hot compared to the previous ones. A succession of sunny days with periods of temperature drops, rain, and thunderstorms is expected. Forecasters also clarified the details of the forecast for the upcoming weekend and the timing of the possible return of stable heat.
