# Heat or thunderstorms: forecasters warn of sudden weather changes in Ukraine this week

Ukraine is expecting a change in weather scenarios: instability will give way to real summer heat, although brief rains and thunderstorms remain part of the forecast. This was stated by Ivan Semylit, a synoptic meteorologist from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

### Arrival of the anticyclone and temperature rise

The atmospheric situation is changing as early as tomorrow, June 19. An area of slightly elevated atmospheric pressure begins to spread over the country from Western Europe. This will lead to a rise in temperature indicators by several degrees compared to the previous days.

At night, a warming to +11...+16 °C is expected, while the air on the seacoast will heat up to +19 °C. During the day, thermometers will show +22...+27 °C. Despite the arrival of heat, it will not be possible to completely get rid of precipitation. Clouds and brief rains are possible during the day in the southeast, as well as in the western and northern regions, where new cloudiness will form.

### Weekend forecast: heat in the west

On Saturday, June 20, precipitation will persist in most southern, central, and eastern regions, however, they will be local and short-term. The situation will change radically on Sunday, June 21.

An anticyclone will finally enter the entire territory of Ukraine from the west, ensuring dry weather. The temperature regime on the weekend will be as follows:

- At night in most regions: +13…+18 °C (up to +21 °C on the coast).

- During the day: +22...+27 °C.

- In the southwest and west of the country: locally up to +30...+32 °C.

Such significant warming of the air in the west is due to the spread of heat from Europe and more intense heating of the surface layer.

### Return of instability at the beginning of the work week

Already at the beginning of the next week, on June 22, an atmospheric front will begin to spread from the northeast, which will return precipitation to the forecast. The weather will become "colorful":

- June 22 (Monday): brief rains with thunderstorms will pass locally during the day, except for the south of the country.

- June 23 (Tuesday): rains with thunderstorms are expected in most regions, except for the southern part of Ukraine.

Night temperatures on these days will be +14...+20 °C. The exception will be Zakarpattia and the south of Ukraine, where at night it will be +18...+23 °C, and during the day the air will heat up to +25...+31 °C.

### Further forecast

According to the advisory forecast, the period from June 24 to 28 will pass under the sign of unstable weather. The temperature background will remain within +21…+27 °C in the central part of the country and up to +30 °C in the south and in Zakarpattia.
