KSCA emphasized that routing the heating pipe through Teremkivska Street necessitated upgrading existing utility networks. However, alternative routes would have forced authorities to cut off nearby residential buildings from heating services for up to 10 months, creating severe disruptions for local communities.

### Project Scope and Public Compromise

The construction of the backup heating main for Teremky-1 and Teremky-2 residential areas is a key element of Kyiv's resilience plan. It will secure heat for over 180 apartment buildings, about 53,000 residents, three hospitals, and roughly 20 schools and kindergartens. In the summer, activists protested tree removal, pausing works for consultations. Following project adjustments, over 200 trees were saved, and construction resumed in September 2026.
