Android smartphone users regularly encounter situations where an updated system hides useful tools deep within menus. One such "sleeping" capability is the Select tool built into the app switcher window. This feature allows you to solve tasks that the standard clipboard cannot handle—for example, copying data from messengers or social networks where developers block standard text selection.

### Why this works faster than normal copying

The traditional method of obtaining information requires lengthy actions: open the app, select all text, copy it, and then manually delete the excess. The Select tool works differently—it acts locally and instantly. If you are sent an address in a message, you can open the recent apps menu, tap Select, copy a specific line, and immediately paste it into a navigator without spending time on editing.

### How to activate the hidden feature

To use this capability, simply follow a few easy steps:

- Open the running apps menu: swipe up from the bottom and hold on the screen (or tap the square navigation button).

- At the bottom of the screen, next to the screenshot button, the Select option will appear. Tap it.

- The system will highlight all areas on the current app screen that can be recognized. Tap and hold the desired text fragment or image.

- In the menu that appears, select one of the commands: Copy, Share, or Search (Search on the internet).

### Tool limitations

Despite its versatility, the function has system limitations. It does not recognize system icons, proprietary logos, or interface elements embedded in the app as graphical code—they will not be highlighted when the mode is activated. Additionally, the system analyzes only what is displayed in the switcher window at that specific moment. If the necessary paragraph is further down in a long article, you will need to scroll, return to the running apps menu, and repeat the selection procedure.
