Ukraine is expected to experience a period of intense warming, with a significant portion of the territory coming under the influence of a powerful anticyclone. Experts from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center (UkrGMZ) warn that in the coming days, air temperatures will rise rapidly, and saving rains will have to be waited for some more time.

### Forecast for the Weekend and the Start of the Work Week

According to meteorologists, the weather in the country on August 1 will be characterized by a stable hot background. On Sunday, August 2, the situation will not change: dry and scorching weather will prevail throughout the country. The only exception will be the northwestern regions, where isolated thunderstorms are possible during the day.

On Monday, August 3, the synoptic picture will remain the same. Dry and hot weather will cover most of the territory, although local thunderstorms are also likely in the northern regions during the day.

### Temperature Indicators

A feature of the upcoming weather will be not only the daytime heat but also warm nights. Thermometer readings at night will drop only to +15…+22°C. During the day, however, temperatures in most regions will rise to +27...+34°C.

The situation is expected to be most critical in the south of the country. Here, in addition to the western regions, the air will warm up to +35...+37°C in some places. The lack of wind will intensify the feeling of stuffiness: the speed of air flows will be only 3-8 m/s, which is characteristic of an anticyclone.

"The wind situation is calm. The wind from variable directions will intensify — by its absence — the higher temperature values," noted Natalia Ptukha, Head of the Media Relations Department of UkrGMZ.

### Situation in Kyiv

The capital of Ukraine will also fall into the zone of elevated temperatures. The forecast chart from UkrGMZ shows the following dynamics for Kyiv:

    - **August 1:** The beginning of the hot period.

    - **August 2:** At night, the average temperature will be around +20°C, and during the day the air will warm up to +32°C.

    - **August 3:** Warm nights will persist (+22°C), and the daytime temperature will reach +34°C.

Experts clarify that the scorching air mass entering the region may linger for a long time. UkrGMZ also reminded about the measurement methodology, explaining why home thermometers may show values that differ from official meteorological data.
