# The Hunt for Gas Stations: Why Visiting Gas Stations is Banned in the Sumy Region and Other Parts of Ukraine

A new wave of dangers for civilians has been declared in the Sumy region. The head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Grygorov, has officially urged residents to refrain from visiting gas stations (GS). The reason is intelligence indicating that the Russian army is preparing strikes specifically against fuel infrastructure objects.

The warning concerns not only border territories. The risk of strikes on gas stations remains in other regions of Ukraine, where the threat was previously considered minimal. Authorities strongly recommend minimizing time spent near gas stations unless absolutely necessary.

### Targeted Attack on Logistics

Recently, Russian forces have significantly intensified attacks on fuel infrastructure. The enemy's strategy is obvious: the destruction of fuel complexes is intended to destabilize the country's internal logistics and create artificial tension among the population. Strikes are being carried out not only in frontline zones but also deep in the rear.

In the Sumy region, which is in close proximity to the line of contact, the situation is critical. Russia is systematically attacking fuel complexes, forcing local authorities to implement special engineering protection measures. However, even these measures do not guarantee complete safety, as recent incidents show.

### Strikes in the Rear: The Poltava Example

The danger is not limited to the border. A striking example was a recent event in the Luben district of the Poltava region — an area traditionally not considered a frontline zone. A gas station object was hit there. As a result of the shelling:

    - Significant damage was inflicted on the building and equipment of the gas station;

    - A civilian vehicle was damaged;

    - One person was injured.

This incident clearly demonstrates that the security boundary is shifting, and no region is insured against sudden attacks.

### New Survival Rules for Drivers

Reacting to the sharp change in the situation, large businesses are forced to change their service formats. The WOG gas station network, one of the largest in the country, has already switched to a special operating mode in seven regions.

New safety rules include:

    - Closing gas station complexes (GSC) at night;

    - A categorical ban on drivers leaving their vehicles near the pump;

    - Reducing the time spent on the premises of the facility.

Authorities and operators urge citizens to strictly follow these instructions. In conditions where the enemy is deliberately looking for weak points in the energy system, compliance with elementary rules of caution can save lives.
