### Rise in acute intestinal infections in Odesa

Last week, 77 cases of acute intestinal infections were recorded in Odesa. This was reported by the Odesa Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. According to specialists, nearly 60% of all infected individuals were children.

Experts emphasize that the main cause of outbreaks is the consumption of homemade dishes prepared or stored in violation of sanitary standards, as well as unwashed vegetables and fruits. Most of these cases could have been prevented if parents and adults had followed elementary hygiene rules and safe food handling practices.

### Situation with respiratory infections and other diseases

At the same time, the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) and influenza in the city remains significantly below the epidemic threshold — by 40.3%. This indicator corresponds to the background level of epidemic process activity and does not cause concern among epidemiologists.

During the reporting period, only isolated cases of viral hepatitis and airborne infections were recorded in Odesa. No cases of diphtheria, measles, rubella, or tetanus were registered during the week.

### Assessment of the epidemiological situation

In the opinion of specialists, the epidemiological situation in Odesa remains stable and is under control. Nevertheless, doctors urge citizens to be especially attentive to personal hygiene and food safety issues, especially during the summer period, when the risk of intestinal infections increases.
