On Saturday, a representative of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baghaei, warned against premature comments regarding the timing of the signing of an agreement with the United States. Despite loud statements by American leader Donald Trump and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif about reaching an agreement, Tehran insists that the process is not yet complete.

"We will have to wait and see the exact date of the signing of the memorandum of understanding, although it will not be tomorrow," Iranian state media quoted Baghaei as saying. At the same time, he did not rule out the possibility of signing the document in the coming days, but emphasized the need for caution due to the other party's wavering.

### Pakistan as a mediator

On Saturday, in Pakistan, which is acting as a mediator in negotiations between the US and Iran, it was announced that a peace agreement would be signed the next day — June 14. The statement was made by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. However, Tehran has not yet confirmed this information.

### Trump announces Iran's renunciation of nuclear ambitions

US President Donald Trump also announced that an agreement had been reached. On Saturday evening, he wrote on his social network that the document would be signed "already tomorrow." Among other things, Trump announced Iran's renunciation of nuclear ambitions as part of the agreement. However, on the same day, Iran reported that the discussion of the nuclear program issue is not yet over and has been postponed to a later date.

### A recurring story

Reuters notes that this is not the first time both sides have seemed close to an initial agreement to end the war. Previously, Trump also announced a quick signing of peace, but this never happened. Thus, the current situation raises questions about the real prospects of reaching an agreement.
