On the night of June 27, tensions in the Middle East reached a critical point. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran officially announced strikes on US military facilities in the region. Tehran described these actions as a necessary retaliatory measure against US aggression.

### "Retaliation is Coming"

In a statement, the Iranian side emphasized that the strikes were carried out by the IRGC Navy against positions characterized by Tehran as the "American terrorist army." Iranian military officials stated that Washington attempted to violate ceasefire commitments and promised that any similar step in the future would be met with an adequate response.

The message contained a stern warning: in the event of a repeat attack by the US, Iran's response would be on a larger scale.

### Washington's Stance and Accusations of Silence Violations

The situation surrounding the conflict escalated sharply amid mutual accusations of violating agreements. Shortly before the escalation began, US Vice President JD Vance published a stern statement on his X social media account. He reminded that Iran had signed a ceasefire agreement, which, according to Washington, is being honored by the American side.

"If they have disagreements about how the memorandum of understanding is being implemented, let them call. But violence will be met with retaliation," Vance wrote.

### Timeline of Events: From the Strait of Hormuz to Missile Strikes

The roots of the current crisis lie in events from the past few days. As early as June 25, media reports emerged that Iran had attacked a civilian vessel passing through the Strait of Hormuz. This waterway had been opened as part of a framework deal between Tehran and Washington, making the incident particularly sensitive.

The following day, June 26, US President Donald Trump confirmed the attack on the vessel. He stated that Iran's actions were a direct violation of ceasefire agreements.

Washington's response followed swiftly. Already on the night of June 27, the US Central Command officially reported strikes on Iranian missile and drone storage facilities, as well as coastal radar stations. It was in response to these actions that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched a counterattack on US positions.
