# Iran Severs Diplomatic Channels with the US and Threatens to Block the Strait of Hormuz

The situation in the Middle East is rapidly escalating. Iran has officially announced the immediate cessation of message exchanges with the US through intermediaries. Tehran has confirmed plans to intensify actions in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. This decision is a direct response to the intensification of Israeli military operations in Lebanon, which the Iranian side views as a gross violation of ceasefire agreements.

The Tasnim news agency, linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, reported that the negotiation team has completely ceased contact with the American side. Tehran insists that any agreements reached imply a "ceasefire on all fronts." Iran has blamed the US and Israel for the breakdown of agreements, pointing to ongoing strikes and military activity.

As a countermeasure, Tehran has declared its intention to completely block shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Efforts to block maritime routes in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, which controls access to the Red Sea, are also planned. It is worth noting that the Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports pass, had already been effectively blocked against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict. Meanwhile, US actions to block the passage of Iranian vessels continue.

The statement by Tasnim agency triggered an immediate and intense reaction in global financial markets. Prices for Brent and WTI crude oil surged sharply, recovering from the decline in previous weeks. Earlier, quotes had fallen amid optimism surrounding possible diplomatic settlement mediated by Pakistan, but now hopes for a peaceful scenario have significantly wavered.

The current situation remains extremely unstable. Iran insists on the immediate withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanon and a complete cessation of strikes. Tehran refuses to engage in new rounds of dialogue until these demands are met, creating a serious risk of further escalation of the conflict in the region.
