# June 1 Deadline: How IDPs Can Claim Back Payments for Previous Months and Avoid Losing Money

For many internally displaced persons (IDPs), the coming days are critical. The deadline for submitting applications for living assistance for certain categories expires on June 1, 2026. This is not just a bureaucratic date—it is an opportunity to reclaim money for several months that have already passed.

The Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine has reminded: if documents are submitted before the deadline, payments will be calculated retroactively. For children—back to February 1, 2026; for those unable to work—even back to January 1, 2026. Miss the deadline, and you will receive assistance only from the month of application.

### Who Can Receive Retroactive Payments?

The government expanded eligibility conditions back in April. Now, children among IDPs are entitled to payments regardless of family income. This is a significant change intended to help many families facing difficult circumstances.

The mechanism for disabled IDPs has also been updated. Those whose assistance was previously terminated due to exceeding the income threshold can now reapply. If done before June 1, payments will be calculated from the beginning of the year.

### How to Submit an Application?

This can be done in several ways: via the “Diia” portal, at a citizen service center, or by mail. The key is not to delay. Every day of procrastination could cost you money.

The Ministry emphasizes: timely submission of documents is the key to receiving payments for previous months. Do not wait until the last day—better to do it in advance to avoid technical issues or long queues.

Earlier, we wrote about compensation for IDP accommodation expenses, pension indexation, and the housing reservation program worth 2 million hryvnias. Stay tuned—state support is available, but it requires action.
