## 🎯 Key Points

- Phone call between Putin and Trump announced
- Peskov confirmed readiness to host Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Moscow
- Ukrainian delegation is discussing a new peace plan in the US
- Dates for the visit of American negotiators have not yet been officially approved

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov has announced preparations for high-level diplomatic contacts between Moscow and Washington. According to him, a telephone conversation between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump may take place in the near future. This statement comes amid intensified efforts by the US administration to find ways to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.

### Potential Visit of Negotiators to Moscow

In addition to the phone call, the Russian side expects the arrival of key American negotiators — Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Dmitry Peskov emphasized that the Kremlin is always glad to welcome US representatives, although the exact dates of a possible trip have not yet been determined, though it is quite expected in the foreseeable future. Earlier, Axios reported that American emissaries intend to visit the Russian capital to discuss details of ending the war.### Diplomatic Context and Ukrainian Position

Parallel to the diplomatic maneuvers in Washington, the Ukrainian delegation is holding consultations with American partners. The parties are discussing a new comprehensive plan designed to break the deadlock in the peace process. However, experts and analysts note the persistence of serious contradictions, as the Russian side has previously repeatedly expressed skepticism about the prospects of a diplomatic settlement on proposed terms.### Contradictory Data

Despite official announcements of contacts, there are noticeable discrepancies in assessments of the timing and goals of the upcoming visits. While Kremlin speakers speak of expected but as yet undated visits by Witkoff and Kushner, independent sources and regional media, citing insider information, name a specific timeframe — late October 2026. In addition, diametrically opposed assessments of the parties' readiness for real compromises remain.

### Prospects and Expert Assessments

The expert community assesses the chances of a quick breakthrough in negotiations with restraint. The involvement of figures at the level of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner indicates the White House's desire to use channels of personal diplomacy. However, the rigid positions of the conflict participants and Moscow's skepticism regarding existing initiatives make any forecasts premature until the completion of the planned rounds of negotiations.
