# Ksenia Fedorova under house arrest: Paris expels former head of RT France for 'destabilization'

A major scandal is unfolding in France concerning the activities of Russian media. The Paris Prefecture of Police has officially issued an order for the expulsion of Ksenia Fedorova, the former General Director of RT France. The grounds for such strict measures are accusations of spreading Kremlin propaganda and participating in disinformation campaigns aimed at destabilizing public order.

### Accusations of working for intelligence agencies

The information about the deportation order was first published by the French newspaper Libération and then confirmed by the French Ministry of the Interior. According to the document signed on Tuesday, Fedorova acts as an "intermediary for disinformation campaigns led by Russian authorities".

French authorities accuse the journalist of spreading narratives aimed at manipulating public opinion and undermining stability in the country. Fedorova's comments, which repeated official Moscow talking points on issues regarding Ukraine, NATO, and European security, caused particular concern among French lawmakers and security experts. The situation has intensified against the backdrop of the approaching 2027 presidential elections.

### From RT France to CNews

Ksenia Fedorova headed the French branch of the RT channel until its closure in 2023 following sanctions imposed by the European Union. However, leaving the media empire did not stop her public activity. After the channel's closure, she became a regular host on the CNews channel and Europe 1 radio station, and collaborated with the newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche.

It was precisely these appearances that became the reason for the investigation. As Politico notes, Fedorova's activity attracted the attention of law enforcement agencies, which saw a threat to national security in her rhetoric.

### House arrest and legal battle

At the moment, Ksenia Fedorova is under house arrest. She is strictly forbidden to work on French territory. The journalist herself has not yet been able to comment on the situation, but her lawyer has already made a statement to the France-Presse agency. The lawyer reported that the expulsion decision would be challenged in court.

### Difficulties with deportation

Despite the official status of the order, its implementation faces serious bureaucratic and diplomatic obstacles. As Libération notes, the absence of diplomatic relations between Paris and Moscow makes the actual deportation of Fedorova to Russia an extremely difficult task.

This case occurs against the backdrop of increased attention to Russian information influence. In December 2025, France recorded a sharp rise in disinformation campaigns: journalists discovered more than 200 new fake media resources. Earlier, the government agency Viginum exposed a structured network aimed against Ukraine and Western countries.
