# Kyiv comments on Bulgaria's statement on ending aid: 'Cooperation continues'

Kyiv has commented on the recent statement by Bulgarian Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov that the country is ceasing military aid to Ukraine. Official spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Georgiy Tikhyy, stated that arms supplies will not stop, although their format has changed.

During a briefing, Tikhyy clarified the details of the current situation. According to him, at the moment, Ukraine is indeed not receiving free military aid from Bulgaria. However, this does not mean a break in security relations.

### Commercial partnership instead of gratuitous aid

The MFA spokesperson emphasized that Ukrainian-Bulgarian defense cooperation has successfully moved to a commercial basis. Experts and Kyiv representatives view this format as mutually beneficial for both sides.

"As of now, Ukraine is not receiving free military aid from Bulgaria. Ukrainian-Bulgarian defense cooperation continues on a commercial basis, and it is mutually beneficial for Ukraine and Bulgaria," noted Georgiy Tikhyy.

Kyiv expects further development of these relations. The logic is simple: Ukraine receives the necessary means for defense, while Bulgarian enterprises get the opportunity to scale their production and generate profit.

### Economic aspect of security

The MFA representative expressed hope that defense cooperation in the commercial dimension will be strengthened. In Kyiv's opinion, this strengthens the potential of both countries. In particular, Tikhyy thanked Bulgaria for maintaining such an opportunity and emphasized the value of working with Bulgarian defense companies.

"This cooperation is commercial, mutually beneficial, and allows us to achieve peace faster. I want to make this point because the stronger Ukraine is, the more resources Ukraine has, the more strength there is, the sooner peace will come," the diplomat emphasized.

### Problems and prospects of the defense industry

The situation with arms procurement is taking place against the backdrop of active work by the Ukrainian defense industry. Despite Kyiv increasing its own production, the sector still faces a shortage of certain imported parts necessary for the assembly and maintenance of equipment.

Furthermore, there are unresolved tasks in the issue of strengthening air defense. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously reported on agreements to purchase new Patriot systems. However, the implementation of these plans is currently being delayed due to a complex of financial, legal, and technical barriers.
