The situation in the Ukrainian capital remains critical following a massive combined strike by Russian armed forces on the night of June 2. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed a rise in the death toll: one more victim succumbed to injuries in the hospital, bringing the total number of casualties in the capital to seven.

### Scale of Destruction and Casualties

According to the latest data, 89 people were injured in Kyiv as a result of the night attack. Currently, 51 wounded individuals are hospitalized, including two children. Doctors are fighting to save the lives of the injured, but the tragedy has also claimed those who suffered severe injuries.

Visual evidence of the destruction shows the scale of the disaster: building debris, damaged infrastructure, and rescue services operating at the impact sites. Firefighters and rescuers continue to clear rubble and extinguish fires that arose after the missile strikes.

### Nature of the Attack and Air Defense Actions

On the night of June 2, Russia used an unprecedented arsenal against Ukraine, including ballistic, cruise, and hypersonic missiles, as well as attack drones. According to Ukrainian sources, the occupiers launched approximately 70 missiles and nearly 700 drones.

Air defense forces managed to intercept a significant portion of the aerial targets; however, dozens of ballistic missiles were recorded as hitting their targets. This resulted in serious damage to residential buildings and civilian infrastructure.

### Consequences for Infrastructure

Strikes on the energy system left parts of Kyiv without electricity. Damage to the overhead contact lines forced city authorities to temporarily alter public transport routes, complicating logistics in the capital.

The attacks were not limited to Kyiv alone. On the morning of the same day, the Russian army struck one of the key facilities of "Naftogaz" in the Kharkiv region. The enemy first used drones, followed by a missile strike, indicating a coordinated nature of the offensive.

### Threat of New Attacks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russian occupiers may launch a new massive strike against the country as early as tonight. Authorities are urging the population to remain vigilant and adhere to safety rules amidst the ongoing aggression.
