Kyiv and the surrounding region are facing extreme weather conditions. In the afternoon of June 12, the capital was hit by a powerful storm accompanied by torrential rain, hail, thunder, and lightning. The intensity of the precipitation was so high that city streets turned into real rivers, and traffic was paralyzed.

### Flooding and submerged vehicles

The situation in the city became critical due to the huge volume of water that fell in a short period of time. In the central districts of Kyiv, there were cases where passenger cars began to go underwater. Heavy rain led to massive road flooding, creating a threat to road users and pedestrians.

### Storm warnings and yellow danger level

Rescue services declared Level I (yellow) danger in the region. Meteorologists forecast that adverse conditions will persist until the end of the day on June 12. According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, the region is experiencing hail and gusty winds with gusts reaching 15–20 m/s.

Experts warned that such weather could lead to disruptions in the work of utility services, construction companies, energy infrastructure, and public transport.

### Consequences in the Kyiv region

A difficult situation has arisen not only in the capital but also in the Kyiv region. In particular, in the Bila Tserkva district, strong gusts of wind blew trees onto the roadway, blocking traffic. The situation requires prompt intervention by utility services and rescuers to clear the roads.

### Forecast for water bodies and neighboring regions

Due to heavy precipitation, meteorologists forecast changes in water levels in water bodies. From June 12 to 14, a rise in water levels of 0.1–0.4 meters is expected on the rivers of the Pripyat and Middle Dnipro basins. The changes will affect Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, and the western part of the Kyiv regions. At the moment, there is no threat of large-scale flooding or negative consequences for the population.

### Bad weather across Ukraine

Heavy rains and storms have been recorded in Ukraine for the second day in a row. The day before, on June 11, in the Cherkasy region, heavy rains washed away watermelon seedlings, causing damage to farmers. In several other regions, there were also fallen trees and power outages.
