# Lavrov and Peskov Demand Clarity from the US: Moscow's Reaction to Rubio's Statement on the Anchorage Summit

A diplomatic dispute has erupted in Moscow after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed there were no agreements reached between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin at the Anchorage summit (Alaska). The Russian side, represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, has demanded that Washington "define its position" regarding the war against Ukraine and provide official clarifications.

### "Not very elegant": Lavrov's response to Rubio's words

Sergey Lavrov reacted sharply to the American colleague's comment. According to him, Rubio's statement that no agreements were reached in Anchorage sounded "not very elegant." The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the summit discussed proposals from Trump's team, which were supported by Putin. Thus, Moscow insists that the negotiations yielded results, even if they were not formalized in a public document.

### Peskov: The US is not neutral, but where is the confirmation?

Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov also joined the criticism. He reminded that Russia has never considered the US a neutral party in the conflict with Ukraine, pointing to massive arms supplies. However, according to Peskov, Moscow has doubts following a statement by French President Emmanuel Macron, who claimed that the US has sided with Ukraine.

"I do not think that President Macron can in any way claim the role of an advocate or press secretary for Washington. But we have not yet heard any statements from the US confirming this," Peskov emphasized. He demanded official clarifications from the White House regarding the status of the US in the conflict.

### Trump and Zelensky: Alliance and approval

Earlier, it became known that at the "G7" summit, Donald Trump signed a document for the first time in which the US refers to itself not as a neutral mediator, but as an ally of Ukraine. Furthermore, the US President positively assessed Vladimir Zelensky's efforts to contain Russia and expressed delight at the successful actions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, including strikes on Russian territory.

Thus, Moscow is facing contradictory signals: on the one hand — public statements by Macron and documents signed by Trump, on the other — the absence of official comments from Washington that would clearly define the US position. This is precisely what prompted the Russian leadership to demand clear answers from the American side.
