Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, commenting on the results of recent contacts with US leadership, put forward a strict requirement: any future agreement on the Ukrainian issue must contain an "inevitable element of compromise". ### Dispute Over the Failure in Alaska The Russian diplomat's statement came immediately after the conclusion of his negotiations with the head of the US Department of State, Marco Rubio. Lavrov used this platform to give his own assessment of the events that took place earlier in Alaska, where, according to the US side, negotiations between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin concluded. Lavrov's American counterpart had previously declared these consultations a failure. However, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry disagreed with such an interpretation. In his words, the question of who exactly failed is yet to be determined. "If there is a proposal, there is agreement, then, probably, the agreed results in Anchorage were? They were," emphasized Sergey Lavrov. ### Compromise as the Basis of the Deal The Russian minister revealed details of the Kremlin's position, citing the words of Donald Trump. According to Lavrov, the American president repeatedly noted that the Russian proposal put forward during the dialogue is partially of a compromising nature. Moscow, in turn, accepted this thesis. "We accepted that this is a compromise proposal, and any agreement, probably, must contain an inevitable element of compromise," summarized the head of the Russian foreign policy department. ### Accusations Against the West Alongside the discussion of the format of peace talks, Lavrov once again drew attention to the issue of military aid to Ukraine. He expressed sharp criticism towards Kyiv's allies, particularly the US, accusing them of supplying weapons which, according to Moscow, are used to wage war against Russia. Thus, the dialogue between Moscow and Washington continues in a tense atmosphere, where each side tries to justify its correctness regarding the results of the negotiations in Alaska and the conditions for future settlement.
