# Lviv University Rankings 2025: UCU Overtakes Franko and Polytechnic in Average Score

Lviv traditionally remains one of the main educational centers of Ukraine, attracting applicants from all over the country. Last year's admission campaign confirmed the high status of regional universities, demonstrating record competitive scores. Experts note that the demand for quality education in Zakarpattia and Lviv regions remains consistently high.

The specialized service Abitly, whose data is cited by RBK-Ukraine, has prepared an updated ranking of educational institutions in the city. The analysis is based on 2025 figures, as the current admission campaign is still ongoing. The ranking combines both large classical universities with thousands of students and narrow-specialization private colleges.

### Ranking Leaders: Private Sector vs. Classics

Analysis shows that high passing scores are traditionally demonstrated by medical, artistic, and private institutions. The undisputed leader in the average NMT (National Multidisciplinary Testing) score in the general list was the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU). The private institution showed a result of 169.42 points, overtaking state giants.

Among classical state universities, high positions are held by two flagships of Lviv science:

    - Ivan Franko Lviv National University — average score 145.45.

    - Lviv Polytechnic National University — average score 138.82.

It is in these two institutions that the largest flow of applicants is observed. Last year, the competition at Ivan Franko Lviv National University was 4,097 people, while 4,896 applicants entered the Polytechnic.

### Threshold Values: How Many Points Are Needed for Admission?

To successfully enter budget places in most specialties, applicants need to score at least 130 points. However, the situation changes radically for elite directions. In such fields as law, medicine, and international relations, the bar rises to 150 points. Notably, this high threshold is relevant for both budget and contract forms of study.

Experts advise applicants to calculate their chances in advance using special competitive score calculators. It is important to consider that the final score is influenced not only by exam results but also by a regional coefficient, which can significantly change the final figure.
