# Mandatory evacuation of children in the Kharkiv region: authorities prepare for forced removal from border settlements

In the Kharkiv region, a decision on the mandatory evacuation of children from border settlements is imminent. Due to a critical deterioration of the security situation, the Derhachi City Military Administration (CMA) intends to submit a corresponding initiative to the Regional Defense Council. The focus is on the settlements of Slatyne and Ruska Lozova, where the security situation is becoming threatening.

### Why evacuation is becoming mandatory

Alexander Kulik, spokesperson for the Derhachi CMA, confirmed that local authorities are preparing for radical measures. According to him, a decision must be made in the near future to prevent a tragedy. The main reason for such actions is the active use of FPV strike drones by the enemy, which attack these territories daily.

"The decision to evacuate families with children from there must be prepared right now. So that it is not too late later," Kulik emphasized. He noted that mandatory evacuation is necessary to preserve not only the physical but also the mental health of citizens living under constant threat.

### Situation on the ground: figures and facts

As of July 1, 2026, dozens of minors remain in the risk zone. There are 89 children living in the settlement of Slatyne and 45 in Ruska Lozova. Local authorities state that even in the absence of massive shelling, danger can arise at any second.

The website of the Derhachi hromada has already published an urgent recommendation for families to leave the danger zones. The message emphasizes that staying in these settlements poses a direct threat to the lives of civilians, especially children.

### Action plan and removal mechanisms

The process of organizing the forced evacuation will take place in several stages. After coordination at the level of the Regional Defense Council, the events will be carried out by the juvenile police and the Department for Children's Affairs. The Kharkiv Regional Humanitarian Coordination Center will prepare accommodation for displaced families.

Authorities urge residents to treat the recommendations with maximum responsibility, reminding them that no material values are worth a human life. Previously, similar measures for the evacuation of the borderland were taken in the Chernihiv region, and the forced removal of families with children was expanded in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
