The political landscape of France has undergone radical changes. Immediately following the decision of the appellate court, which effectively opened the path to the Élysée Palace for Marine Le Pen, sociologists recorded a surge in support for the leader of the far-right party "National Rally".

### Judicial resolution and a fresh start

The key event shaping the current agenda was the ruling of the Paris Court of Appeal. The court upheld the guilty verdict in the case of embezzlement of European Union funds but significantly mitigated the administrative consequences. The ban on participating in elections was reduced from five years to 15 months.

Since this period has already elapsed, the politician has gained the legal opportunity to participate in a new presidential campaign. Additionally, the court sentenced Le Pen to one year in prison without actual incarceration, likely utilizing an electronic monitoring bracelet. The leader of the "National Rally" has already announced her intention to appeal the decision to the highest judicial authority, while firmly stating her determination to continue the fight for the presidency.

### Poll results: leadership expands

A new sociological poll conducted by the company Elabe on behalf of BFM TV and La Tribune Dimanche showed that Le Pen's political rehabilitation is directly converting into electoral points. The study covered 1,503 adult respondents.

If the first round of the election were to take place next Sunday, Marine Le Pen would receive between 34% and 35.5% of the vote. This is three percentage points higher than the March study indicated. Experts note that the politician's electoral base has noticeably expanded.

### Competitive landscape and the second round

In the current race for second place, several figures are competing. In one scenario, former Prime Minister Édouard Philippe secured the second position with support from about 19% of voters. The leader of the "Unbowed France" party, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, holds the third position, although in some variants he is overtaken by another former head of government — Gabriel Attal.

The most interesting forecasts concern the second round, scheduled for May 2. According to all tested scenarios, Marine Le Pen leads her main opponents. Her advantage, depending on who reaches the finish line, ranges from 1.4 to 3.1 percentage points.

### Change in electoral profile

Bernard Sananes, head of the research company Elabe, highlighted a qualitative change in the audience supporting Le Pen. "She leads among pensioners and in major cities, and among the working population, she is practically on par with Édouard Philippe. What used to be her weak points are no longer so," the expert noted.

Thus, ahead of the elections in April next year, Marine Le Pen appears not just as a participant in the race, but as an undisputed favorite who has managed to overcome legal obstacles and strengthen her position in the eyes of voters.
