Social network Instagram has begun mass blocking user accounts that use Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses to secretly film people in public places. The trigger for these strict measures was numerous complaints about privacy violations and the abuse of technology.

Platform leadership has made an unprecedented decision: content created through mockery or secret recording will no longer be tolerated. This was announced by Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, warning that videos featuring inappropriate behavior towards passersby or service workers will be removed immediately, and their authors will be blocked.

### The End of the Era of Secret Filming?

In his Instagram stories, Mosseri clearly outlined the new safety policy: "If you publish content that uses people for your own benefit and subjects them to harassment, we will remove this content." The company intends to fight stalking and secret filming by all possible means.

Several well-known bloggers who regularly filmed women and girls in public places without their knowledge have already come under fire. Meta representatives officially confirmed the removal of these profiles, classifying the actions of their owners as bullying and stalking.

### Circumventing Protection and Countermeasures

Initially, Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses were equipped with an indicator that lights up during recording to warn those around. However, users quickly found ways to bypass this restriction. The LED was covered with film, tape, or even the casing was drilled. "Masters" offering services to modify the gadget for complete stealth recording even appeared online.

Furthermore, even a working LED often remained unnoticed outdoors in bright daylight, making the protection ineffective. In response to these manipulations, developers released a software update that completely disables the device's camera if the system detects an attempt to block or damage the recording indicator.

The mass use of smart glasses for unauthorized filming led to the gadget acquiring a number of offensive nicknames online. Technology experts note that the scandal is dealing a serious blow to the product's image and threatens future sales of smart gadgets.
