On the night of July 2, Ukraine faced one of the largest-scale attacks in recent times. Russia unleashed an unprecedented number of strike assets against the country — 570 units, including air-, land-, and sea-launched missiles, as well as hundreds of drones. Kyiv was the primary target.

### Air Defense Operated at Maximum Capacity

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, by 09:00, 524 aerial targets had been destroyed or suppressed. This means the air defense system intercepted over 90% of all launched offensive weapons. However, several missiles and attack drones still breached the defenses — details are being verified.

The Air Force warned that enemy drones remain active in the skies over Ukraine. Civilians are strongly advised not to ignore air raid alerts and to strictly follow safety protocols.

### Destruction in Kyiv: Seven Districts Hit

On the morning of July 2, capital authorities reported a significant rise in casualties and injuries. The State Emergency Service (SES) released initial photos showing widespread fires and destruction across seven districts of Kyiv.

Particularly concerning is damage to critical infrastructure: a medical facility and a hotel in the city center were hit. The exact number of casualties and injured remains unconfirmed and is still being updated.

### What’s Next?

The July 2 attack marks a new phase of escalation in the conflict. The scale of the strike indicates Russia’s willingness to deploy maximum resources to achieve its objectives. Ukrainian forces continue to repel threats, but the situation remains tense.

Civilians are urged to monitor official information sources, avoid spreading unverified data, and strictly adhere to civil defense instructions.
