# Massive delays for UZ trains: passengers wait up to 9 hours due to border and route issues

On Thursday morning, July 2, Ukrainian railway passengers faced widespread disruptions in train operations. Dozens of UZ (Ukrzaliznytsia) services are running with significant delays, turning routine trips into endurance tests. While the schedule might have been a rough guide in the morning, by midday many passengers learned that their wait could stretch for several hours.

### From one to nine hours: how the schedule changed

The situation on the tracks is uneven. For some travelers, the delay amounted to a modest 60 minutes, which in modern transport terms can be considered a minor inconvenience. However, for others, the situation is critical: the wait for the final stop has increased by 2–3 hours.

The situation is particularly difficult for those whose trains are delayed by more than 3 hours. According to monitoring data, several dozen services have encountered such disruptions. In the most severe cases, the delay from the schedule reached 5–9 hours. This means passengers are forced to spend two or more times longer on the road or at platforms than originally planned.

### Border and logistics: the main causes of disruptions

Experts and carriers highlight two main reasons behind this wave of delays. The first is internal issues on railway lines, which affect the speed of movement and schedules on various routes within the country.

The second, equally significant reason, lies in the operation of border crossings. Significant delays are characteristic of international services. Passengers traveling through checkpoints with Poland (specifically the routes to Przemyśl and Chełm) face queues and bureaucratic procedures that extend travel time. It is often at the border that those crucial hours are lost, turning a short trip into a multi-day adventure.

### How to check your train status

The list of delayed trains is constantly updated and is incomplete, as the situation changes dynamically. UZ warns that the estimated time of arrival or departure may change.

To avoid waiting blindly for news, passengers are advised to monitor the current situation online. The carrier's official website features interactive dashboards displaying the current status. Additionally, the system includes a "Search" form that allows you to find information about a specific service in real-time. This is the only way to get reliable data on exactly when the train will depart or arrive at the destination station.
