On Thursday morning, June 18, Moscow faced a large-scale attack by unmanned aerial vehicles. Residents of the capital and the region reported drone flyovers, explosion sounds, and ensuing fires. The situation is developing rapidly, with new footage appearing on social networks.

### Timeline of Events: From First Signals to Mass Repulsion of the Attack

The first reports of drones flying over Moscow and the Moscow region began to appear in Telegram channels as early as 4:00 AM. Visual confirmation of the attack began to spread among users almost instantly. Just 40 minutes after the incident began, the Mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, commented on the work of the air defense forces.

As of 05:43, according to official data, 33 drones had already been shot down. However, the flow of video recordings with drones continued to appear online until at least 6:00 AM. Plumes of smoke were recorded on the outskirts of the city and in adjacent areas, indicating direct hits and fires.

### Fire at the Moscow Refinery and Infrastructure Damage

One of the key targets of the attack was the Moscow Oil Refinery (MNPS) in the Kapotnya district. According to OSINT channels, a large fire broke out on the enterprise's territory as a result of the strike. Visually, the burning of at least two tanks has been recorded.

In addition to the industrial facility, civilian buildings were also damaged. Footage of building damage in the city appeared online. Mayor Sobyanin mentioned in his message that debris from drones was recorded on the territory of the "Sadovod" shopping center, which led to minor damage to one of the buildings.

### Government Response and Consequences for Energy

In Sergei Sobyanin's official statement, despite a detailed report on the shot-down drones and the situation in the shopping center, there was no direct information about the attack on the oil refinery. Instead, the mayor limited himself to a general formulation: "Several drones managed to reach the MNPS. Measures are being taken to eliminate the consequences".

International agencies, in particular Reuters, reported that the strike on the plant led to a complete stoppage of its operations. This event continued a series of attacks on Moscow's energy infrastructure: on June 16, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced an attack on the same facility, which damaged the primary oil processing unit ELOU AVT-6.
