Large-scale search and rescue operations continue in Kyiv following a massive attack carried out in the night of July 2. The number of fatalities resulting from the strike has risen to 27. Among the victims are those who died in hospitals from injuries sustained and those whose bodies were recovered from the rubble of destroyed buildings.

### Damage in the Darnytskyi district

Rescuers are focusing their efforts on the Darnytskyi district of the capital, where a missile hit a residential high-rise building. Preliminary data suggests that approximately nine people may still be trapped under the rubble of this building. Evacuation and search operations for the missing are being conducted around the clock, despite difficult conditions and structural instability.

### Nature of the attack and consequences

In the night of July 2, Russian forces carried out a combined attack on the Ukrainian capital, deploying a large number of missiles and attack drones. In particular, the active use of jet drones was noted. As a result of strikes on civilian infrastructure, the number of casualties continues to rise: people are sustaining injuries of varying severity.

### Government response

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the scale of the attack, stating that such actions against civilian objects will be met with a just response. The Head of the State Emergency Service (SES) confirmed that rescue operations are not stopping for a minute as long as there is a chance to find people under the rubble.
