Ukraine's energy sector has once again become the target of a massive attack. During the night into the morning, Russian armed forces launched kamikaze drone strikes against key 'Ukrnafta' facilities and production assets in the Poltava region. The aftermath of the attack has already led to the shutdown of several enterprises and human casualties.

### Strikes on fuel infrastructure

According to information received by RBC-Ukraine from the head of the board of the State Concern 'Naftogaz of Ukraine', Serhiy Koretsky, several 'Ukrnafta' gas stations (GSS) were hit. Attacks were recorded in the Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

Particular concern is caused by an incident during one of the 'Shahed' kamikaze drone attacks. As a result of the explosion, a gas station worker sustained serious injuries. Medical personnel hospitalized the victim in critical condition. Currently, the operation of the damaged gas stations has been completely halted.

### Damages in the Poltava region

During the night and morning, strikes also hit production assets in the Poltava region. According to the company, gas extraction and storage facilities sustained significant damage. This forced management to suspend operations at part of the assets to conduct repairs and assess the damage.

However, not all incidents ended in catastrophe. At one of the facilities, thanks to the prompt actions of rescuers from the State Emergency Service (SES) and 'Naftogaz' specialists, the fire was quickly extinguished. Thanks to their coordinated efforts, no staff or rescuers were injured.

### Loss and shelling statistics

This is not an isolated case of attacks on energy infrastructure. In May of this year, Russia completely destroyed one of the 'Ukrnafta' gas stations in the Dnipropetrovsk region during a combined strike of ballistic missiles and drones.

Serhiy Koretsky presented alarming loss statistics. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 320 employees of the 'Naftogaz' Group have been killed. Of these, 19 people died in 2026. Only in the first four months of this year, 96 shelling incidents of the company's facilities were recorded, indicating systematic pressure on the country's energy sector.
