On Monday, October 26, 2026, London will host the Ballon d'Or award ceremony. As always, the list of contenders for the main individual award in world football consists of 30 participants, but experts name three bright stars of European clubs as the main favorites.

### New Selection Criteria and Geography of the Award

This year, the award organizers have introduced changes to the evaluation conditions for the best male and female players. Each voter determines their favorites based on three clearly established criteria: individual and decisive performances, collective achievements and won trophies, as well as behavior and adherence to fair play principles both on and off the pitch.

It is worth noting that the jubilee 70th ceremony is taking place outside of France for the first time in history, at London's Palladium Theatre. The choice of the British capital is due to the fact that the first winner of the prestigious award in 1956 was English footballer Stanley Matthews.

### Main Contenders and List of Categories

The shortlist of nominees for the prestigious trophy in 2026 includes 30 players. Among the leading stars mentioned are Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembele, however, analysts name Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe, Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal, and Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane as the main favorites for the Ballon d'Or.

In addition to the main men's award, the gala evening will determine winners in other categories. The organizers will name the best female player, the best young players among men and women, the best men's and women's clubs, as well as the strongest coaches and goalkeepers of the year.

### Where to Watch the Broadcast and Ceremony Details

The start of the official event from France Football is scheduled for 22:00 Kyiv time. The hosts of the evening will be legendary French striker Thierry Henry and TV presenter Kate Scott.

A live video broadcast of the ceremony will be available on the popular video service DAZN. Fans from all over the world will be able to follow the announcement of the prestigious award winners in real time.
