# Meta AI transforms Facebook: new search, content generation, and the risk of misinformation

Meta has officially announced a major update to the Facebook social network that fundamentally changes familiar usage scenarios. At the heart of the June release is the introduction of advanced artificial intelligence functions designed to transform information search, content creation, and user interaction.

### AI Mode: search based on live discussions

The main innovation is the AI Mode tool — a fundamentally new search mode. Instead of the usual list of links that users have to scroll through to find the information they need, the algorithm now generates a single response based on a query phrased in plain language.

To form a response, the Meta AI neural network analyzes millions of open publications. The database includes discussions in public groups and short Reels videos. This allows users to get up-to-date information from "live" community discussions, not just from static posts.

### The Forum app and the risk of unreliable information

Alongside the main app update, Meta began rolling out a separate platform called Forum. Structurally, it resembles Reddit, but with a key feature: a special Ask tab where the AI generates answers based exclusively on comments from Facebook communities.

However, experts are already sounding the alarm about potential risks. Since the algorithm generalizes messages from ordinary users rather than verifying data through authoritative scientific sources, there is a high probability of receiving outdated, erroneous, or false information. A similar issue was previously observed with Google when integrating with Reddit.

### Creative tools and virtual wardrobe

For content creators and Stories users, developers have introduced creative image and video editing tools. Of particular interest are AI-based photo presets that allow users to radically change their appearance in photos: from hairstyles to accessories and clothing items.

The feature is called Wear It. For example, football fans can virtually "try on" their favorite team's kit. To do this, simply tap the AI Edit icon in Stories or use the profile update function via the Wardrobe section.

### The evolution of AI in the Meta ecosystem

The new features complement a long list of technologies that the company has integrated into its products over the past year:

- **February:** The introduction of animated avatars capable of interacting with content (e.g., waving a hand or wearing virtual holiday hats).

- **March:** The integration of AI into Facebook Marketplace for the automatic generation of seller responses to buyer messages.

- **June:** The launch of a virtual assistant for professional creators. It analyzes publication history, suggests optimal posting times, and creates brief summaries from thousands of comments.

### Monetization and the future of subscriptions

Meta's strategy is aimed at increasing audience engagement and diversifying revenue. Against the backdrop of launching new free tools, the company has announced global plans to introduce paid AI subscriptions for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. The cost of access to premium neural network features will range from $3.99 per month.
