As of January 1, 2026, new economic realities have come into effect in Ukraine. The minimum subsistence level has been recalculated, triggering a chain reaction: minimum pensions, social allowances, and other payments tied to this key indicator have automatically increased.

According to explanations from the Main Department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the Donetsk region, the general minimum subsistence level for the new year is 3209 hryvnias. This is a significant increase — by 289 hryvnias compared to the 2025 level.

### Different rates for different categories of citizens

It is important to understand that there is no single figure for everyone. The state has established separate indicators for children, working-age citizens, and pensioners. The size of many social payments and assistance for families with children depends precisely on these specific values.

    - For working-age citizens, the minimum subsistence level has increased to 3328 hryvnias.

    - For pensioners and people who have lost their ability to work, the indicator is set at 2595 hryvnias.

Furthermore, the minimum subsistence level for working-age persons plays a key role in calculating the maximum base for the single social contribution (ESC).

### Special payments for certain categories

In addition to indexation, special support programs are also active in Ukraine. Previously, it was reported that some Ukrainians upon retirement may receive a one-time assistance amounting to ten pensions. This payment is provided for workers in education, medicine, social protection, artists, and athletes, provided they have the necessary seniority and have not previously received a pension.

Also, some children with disabilities of subgroup A will receive a one-time assistance of 6500 hryvnias. Payments are provided for families from nine frontline regions of Ukraine, and funds will be credited automatically through the Pension Fund to the account where social assistance is already being received.
