# Modern kitchen without clutter: 8 things to remove from your interior

Creating a stylish and functional kitchen space doesn't always require expensive renovations or buying designer furniture. Often, it is enough to audit your existing items and get rid of things that visually clutter the interior and have lost their practicality. The Styler editorial team has prepared a list of items you should remove from the kitchen right now so that the space can shine in new colors.

### 1. Worn-out plastic cutting boards

Colorful plastic boards covered in numerous scratches have long ceased to be a decoration for the kitchen. Over time, they lose their neat appearance, and food residues and bacteria accumulate in the deep grooves, making them unhygienic. For daily use, it is better to choose a quality wooden board or a stone option—they look more restrained, stylish, and durable.

### 2. An excess of magnets on the refrigerator

One or two magnets from memorable trips can become a cute accent, but when they cover almost all the refrigerator doors, the space looks overloaded. If you don't want to part with souvenirs, keep a few of your favorites and collect the rest in a separate collection. This will allow the kitchen to look much neater.

### 3. Textiles with bright prints

Kitchen textiles have a significant impact on the overall perception of the interior. Towels with large inscriptions, images of vegetables, fruits, or overly bright floral prints can visually cheapen the space. Try replacing them with solid-colored linen or cotton models. Neutral shades are easy to combine with each other and give the kitchen a more modern and expensive look.

### 4. Bulky knife blocks

Large wooden blocks with a whole set of knives take up a lot of space on the work surface, although most people regularly use only a few of them. Instead of a massive structure, you can choose a compact metal or wooden stand. Another option is to store knives in a drawer if the kitchen organization allows for it.

### 5. Bright plastic utensils

Neon green, pink, or orange spatulas can stand out sharply from the general style of the kitchen, especially if there are many of them. To create a more restrained interior, it is better to choose a set of utensils in one color or prefer accessories made of wood and metal.

### 6. Patterned tablecloths

A bright tablecloth with flowers, fruits, or other patterns can instantly change the look of the kitchen, and not always for the better. If you want to add coziness, replace it with a solid-colored textile runner or a laconic tablecloth. And if the table surface itself looks good, you can leave it uncovered altogether.

### 7. Decorative plates on the walls

In the past, decorative plates were a popular way to decorate a kitchen or dining room. Today, such decor often looks outdated and overloads the walls. If you want to add individuality to the kitchen, pay attention to modern posters, minimalist paintings, or one large decorative composition.

### 8. Chaos in containers and dishes

A multitude of colorful containers of different sizes not only takes up a lot of space but also creates a feeling of chaos in the kitchen cabinets. A collection of identical containers will look much neater. For cereals, pasta, and other dry goods, you can use transparent glass jars—this way, you can immediately see what is stored in them.

You should also pay attention to dishes with store logos, company names, or old inscriptions. Often, such cups accumulate for years, forming a mismatched collection that does not go well together. You don't necessarily have to throw away all your favorite cups, but if you haven't used some of them for a long time, it's time to make room for new dishes and space.
