Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has voiced alarming intelligence regarding Moscow's new plans. According to the head of state, Russia may attempt to attack critical infrastructure objects in the region. The warning was issued against the backdrop of ongoing tensions and the Kremlin's desire to test the unity of the NATO alliance.

### The goal of provocations is to test NATO unity

Gitanas Nausėda stated that Vladimir Putin still seeks to test the cohesion of the North Atlantic Alliance. To this end, Russia plans provocative actions directed against Poland and the Baltic states. Specifically, this involves the preparation of local operations against critical infrastructure objects.

Experts note that it is extremely difficult to determine the specific time and place of a possible attack. As the Lithuanian leader emphasized, the adversary may not yet have completed the planning process, but the fact of preparation has already been recorded by intelligence.

### Strengthening protection and the nature of the threat

In response to the threat, Lithuania has already strengthened the protection of transport and energy infrastructure. The President's team is actively preparing for a wide range of possible scenarios. Nausėda clarified the nature of the expected actions: we are talking about kinetic operations.

It is important to understand that a kinetic operation implies the use of physical destructive force — weapons, ammunition, missiles, drones, or aviation. In this case, we are not talking about a large-scale invasion, but about targeted strikes on strategic objects.

### Deterrence strategy

Earlier reports suggested that Russia might be preparing a provocation using Ukrainian drones against NATO countries. At the same time, experts note that the Kremlin may currently lack the resources for a full-scale military attack on Poland.

In Warsaw, it is believed that the public disclosure of Russia's plans should play a preemptive role and deter Putin from new aggression. Openness of information allows allies to be ready for any scenario of events.
