The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has announced the completion of a major project to update the design of the national currency. Starting June 16, 2026, modified banknotes with a face value of 100 hryvnias will enter circulation, featuring the patriotic slogan "Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes!" for the first time.

### New Design Element on the 100 Hryvnia Note

The update will affect the reverse side of the banknote: the national greeting will be placed in the upper right corner. The National Bank emphasized that this is the only visual change. All other design elements, as well as security features, remain unchanged and fully correspond to the 2014 issue banknotes.

The introduction of the updated 100-hryvnia banknote marks the final stage of the modification of the hryvnia banknote series. The process began in August 2024, coinciding with the 33rd anniversary of Ukraine's independence. Previously, a similar slogan had already been placed on other major denominations, and now it will be present on the entire series of paper money.

### How the Changes Will Take Place

From June 16, the NBU will begin issuing modified banknotes to commercial banks, cash-in-transit companies, and enterprises engaged in cash processing. Following this, the updated banknotes will gradually begin to appear in cash registers and circulation throughout the country.

The National Bank clarified that citizens do not need to specifically exchange their existing 100-hryvnia notes for new ones. Banknotes from previous years of issue remain legal tender and will be used in parallel with the updated banknotes. All types of payments, including older versions, must be accepted without any restrictions.

### Context of the Currency Reform

Changes in Ukraine's cash circulation continue. Thus, as of March 2, 2026, paper banknotes of small denominations (1, 2, 5, and 10 hryvnias) were finally withdrawn from circulation and are no longer accepted for payment. They have been replaced by coins, which have a significantly longer service life. However, Ukrainians have the opportunity to exchange old banknotes at authorized banks until 2029.

In addition to updating banknotes, the NBU announced the release of a commemorative silver coin "30 Years of the Constitution of Ukraine" with a face value of 10 hryvnias. The release is scheduled for June 2026, with a mintage of 10,000 copies. The coin will be part of the "Ukrainian State" series, dedicated to the main symbols of statehood.
