The National Bank of Ukraine has officially presented a new banknote with a denomination of 2000 hryvnia. This event marks an addition to the country's monetary system, as the banknote will become the seventh in circulation. According to the regulator's plans, the new banknote will start entering Ukrainians' wallets as early as September 2026.

### Portrait of Vasyl Stus on the Banknote

The main feature of the novelty is the choice of a historical figure for the image. The obverse of the banknote features a portrait of Vasyl Stus — an outstanding Ukrainian poet, dissident, and one of the leaders of the "Sixtiers" movement. The choice of this hero underscores the desire to monetize the memory of significant figures in Ukrainian culture and history.

### Design and Characteristics

The visual style of the new banknote continues the traditions of the series issued between 2014 and 2019. This ensures recognizability and continuity in the design of the national currency. The main parameters of the banknote are as follows:

    - **Size:** 75 x 166 mm.

    - **Main color:** blue.

NBU specialists note that the combination of characteristic size and color scheme will allow citizens to easily distinguish the 2000 hryvnia banknote from other denominations in everyday circulation.

### Circulation Status

Despite the announcement, the new banknote will officially begin to function as a means of payment from September 4, 2026. Until this date, existing banknotes remain in circulation, which citizens continue to use for transactions.
