At a government meeting on August 3, a decision was made to appoint Nikolai Shvydky as Deputy Minister of Defense. This personnel decision is aimed at optimizing the interaction processes between the ministry and the front lines. ### Accelerating decision-making Cabinet of Ministers representative Taras Melnychuk confirmed the appointment, noting that the new position was created to solve a specific task β€” accelerating management decisions necessary for the Ukrainian military. According to Acting Minister of Defense Yevhen Yarmak, forming an updated team is intended to ensure a more operational response to requests from the front. ### Key goal: connection with the Armed Forces of Ukraine The main mission of the new deputy will be to strengthen the practical interaction between the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, this refers to coordinating work between three key structures: the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapaty. Yevhen Yarmak emphasized that the decisions of the defense department must correspond as much as possible to the real situation on the front. To achieve this, it is necessary to have a constant presence of ministry representatives directly in the brigades and units operating in combat zones. ### Feedback from servicemen An important aspect of the new strategy is obtaining objective information about the situation in the troops. Yarmak stated that feedback should come not only from the command but directly from the rank-and-file servicemen. "The needs of the units must reach the Ministry faster. And specific decisions for the soldiers must reach the front faster," RBC-Ukraine quotes the Acting Minister. ### One team Yarmak also stated that the Ministry of Defense, the Commander-in-Chief, and the General Staff must act as a single team, guided by common priorities and responsibility towards the Ukrainian military. This will help minimize bureaucratic delays and increase the efficiency of supply and support on the front.
