# New heating main in the Holosiivskyi district: how a reserve for Teremky will be built and what will happen to the trees

Construction of a new heating main is in full swing in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv. This infrastructure project, implemented as part of the Capital's Resilience Plan, aims to ensure reliable heating for the Teremky-1 and Teremky-2 residential areas.

### Creating a backup heating scheme

The main goal of the construction is to create a redundant heat supply scheme. This is critical for ensuring the uninterrupted operation of heating and hot water systems in the event of a critical shutdown of the TEC-5 power plant. According to the Kyiv City State Administration (Kyiv City Council), the new network will cover a significant sector of social infrastructure:

- 183 residential buildings;

- 3 healthcare facilities;

- 18 educational institutions, including schools and kindergartens.

The customer for these large-scale works is the municipal enterprise "Kyivteploenergo".

### Greening and compensation issues

The implementation of the engineering project inevitably affects the ecology of the district. Kyiv residents have been officially warned that part of the greenery will need to be removed to lay the pipeline. However, authorities assure that this is a temporary measure. Immediately after the completion of construction, the territory is planned to be fully restored by planting new trees, shrubs, and plants.

The Kyiv City Council has explained the mechanism of financial responsibility for cutting down greenery. According to current legislation, the customer will pay compensation for the removed plantings. These funds will be directed to the creation and development of new green zones in other districts of the capital, which will help balance the impact of construction on the urban environment.

### Context of events in Kyiv

Works on the modernization of communal infrastructure continue against the backdrop of a tense situation in the city. In the morning of July 31, explosions were heard in Kyiv again. Later, it became known that Russia attempted to attack the capital using drones. Despite the threats, city services continue to carry out planned tasks to strengthen the city's resilience.

In addition to the construction of heating mains, residents and guests of the capital have been warned about a partial restriction of traffic on the Metro Bridge, scheduled from July 31. Furthermore, information regarding "Kyivavtodor" plans to repair capital roads and bridges this year remains relevant.
