# New type of Russian UAV: Expert Beskreastnov shows silhouette of unknown drone in Ukrainian sky

A previously unknown model of a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle has been detected in the Ukrainian sky. Military expert and radio technology specialist Sergey "Flash" Beskreastnov has released an image from an air defense thermal scope, clearly showing the silhouette of this new aerial target. According to the expert, the characteristics of this device are currently unknown, and its factory designation has not been identified by Ukrainian defense forces.

Judging by the visual data obtained from the thermal imager, the new drone features a non-standard aerodynamic scheme. The device is equipped with a long, straight high-aspect-ratio wing positioned forward, and a specific twin-tail empennage resembling a U-shaped frame. The thermal signature indicates that a pusher propeller engine is located in the tail section. A suspension under the fuselage is visible, which likely represents an optoelectronic station or a compact combat module.

Experts suggest that Russian engineers have created a device with high aerodynamic qualities of the airframe. The large wingspan allows for economical energy consumption, ensuring prolonged loitering or low-altitude flight to bypass radar stations. Preliminary estimates suggest the drone can perform functions both as a reconnaissance-corrector and as a strike munition guided at equipment and positions.

The appearance of this unidentified unmanned vehicle coincided with a change in the tactics of Russian air attacks. In recent days, the mass use of other new UAVs — "Gerbera" and "Molniya" — has been recorded. Their goal, according to analysts, is to create interference on radars and force Ukrainian mobile groups to expend their ammunition. The new drone, it seems, is an element of this distributed network.

The situation in the sky is complicated against the backdrop of large-scale reforms within the Ukrainian army. The new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapaty, has proclaimed a transition to deep technological defense of the front, betting on the mass saturation of the frontline with electronic warfare systems and FPV drones. However, to combat new maneuverable cruise UAVs, Ukraine urgently needs Western anti-aircraft missiles.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy admitted that stocks of missiles for Patriot systems are running low. At the same time, Washington is discussing the issue of issuing licenses to Kyiv for their production. The Russian satellite network "Rassvet" has already begun to ensure the coordination of UAVs over Ukraine. Under these conditions, Ukrainian engineers will have to urgently study the control frequencies of the novelty and create specialized means for clearing the sky.
