# New Ukrainian INGUAR-4 Tow Truck: How a 30-Ton ARRV is Changing Frontline Logistics

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has officially approved a new combat unit for service — the armored recovery and towing vehicle INGUAR-4. The machine is designed to solve a critically important task: to promptly extract damaged armored vehicles weighing up to 30 tons from the battlefield, minimizing equipment and time losses.

As reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the ministry, the development was carried out by domestic engineers based on the components of the well-known INGUAR-3 armored vehicle. However, the new tow truck has received significant modifications, transforming it into a specialized armored recovery and repair vehicle (ARRV).

### Technical Features and Advantages

The main difference between the INGUAR-4 and its predecessor is the reinforced frame and the changed wheel formula. The machine received an additional driving axle, making it a six-wheel drive tow truck (6x6). This move allowed for a significant increase in load capacity and off-road capability in difficult terrain conditions.

To perform recovery tasks, a powerful winch and a hydraulic suspension system are installed on board. During testing, the wheeled tow truck confirmed the declared characteristics, proving its effectiveness in real combat conditions.

Specialists note a number of advantages of the new machine over tracked analogues:

    - High maneuverability and speed of movement.

    - Universality of the recovery system, allowing work with most types of armored vehicles.

    - Reduced load on the road surface compared to tracked vehicles.

### Range of Recovered Equipment

Thanks to the powerful engine and reinforced chassis, the INGUAR-4 is capable of recovering a wide range of equipment of both Ukrainian and foreign manufacture. The list of objects that the machine can lift and tow includes:

    - Armored vehicles Inguar-3, Roshel Senator, Kirpi.

    - Heavy armored vehicles "Kazak", "Novator", "Gurza".

    - Foreign models, such as International MaxxPro.

It is important to note that all listed models have a mass of up to 30 tons.

### Crew Protection and Production Localization

Crew safety is a priority in design. The ARRV crew is protected by multi-layer armor made of Armox steel and aluminum. The level of protection corresponds to the STANAG 4569 Level 3 standard, which guarantees protection against small arms fire and shrapnel.

As part of the import substitution policy and support for domestic engineering, almost 60% of the chassis and suspension components of the machine are produced directly in Ukraine. The first serial samples of the INGUAR-4 have already been transferred to the troops and are performing combat tasks.

### Context of Modern Hostilities

The appearance of new equipment occurs against the background of a change in the role of heavy weapons on the modern front. The widespread use of drones makes large armored vehicles a vulnerable target. Under these conditions, the speed of evacuation and restoration of vehicle mobility becomes a factor determining the success of the operation. Defense forces are increasingly using not only heavy armored vehicles but also ground robotic complexes to solve such tasks, however, the role of specialized tow trucks remains irreplaceable.
